Pearls and Animal Prints...

Happy Wednesday my loves.

I hope everyone is off to a good start today.

I apologize about not being able to post sooner but I have been extremely under the weather. It just seems as if no matter where I turn germs are flying and snot is running-literally!!

Needless to say, I've been doped up on meds and covered in Vapor-Rub with a gigantic bottle of sanitizer by my bedside.

Before this sickness took over my life I was able to go out for a much needed dinner with one of my girlfriends.

This is what I wore...

Let me tell you that I have been DYING to wear this pearl sweater. I picked it up for $1 at my local thrift and fell head over heels in love with it since first seeing it.

Sweater-Thrifted (Forever 21)
I wanted to keep it simple yet add a touch of edginess so I paired it with gray skinnies to create a monotone look.

Skinnies-Platos
On my feet I wore these babies...

Shoes-Ebay (Steve Madden)
The leopard heels reminded me to join in with Marion over at MarionBerry Style for her
Trend of the Month Challenge. This month she's focusing on animal prints

Isn't she thee cutest!?

Once again I wore this thrifted bag. Sure I don't have on any gold but I figured that it would bring out the brown color in the shoes.

Purse-Thrifted
I would wear this bag everyday if I could!

Well, actually for the last couple of outfit posts, I have!

I can't get enough of it.

It makes me smile!

Almost as much as this pearl adorned sweater!

Which piece of clothing are you dying to wear this season?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thanks for reading.

My Formula For Choosing The Perfect Outfit...

Happy Wednesday lovelies!

It's Hump Day already and I'm thankful for how quickly this week is going by.

Sometimes I wish that I had somewhere special to go everyday-an event of some sort-so that I could dress up and do more outfit posts.

Does anyone else feel that way?

Probably not because most of the bloggers that I visit are mainly fashion bloggers.
Sooo, I guess I'm alone in feeling this. LOL

Anyhow, since blogging I've noticed that when I do get dressed there's somewhat of a formula that I follow, if you will.

It first begins with picking a statement item from my wardrobe...

Like this one...

Skirt-Thrifted
It could be a blazer, pants, a shirt, or even this thrifted gingham skirt which has been sitting in my closet for more than a year-easily!

For some reason, I was on the fence about this skirt. It fit a little awkward and it had a weird 'fishtail' like thing going on in the back!

But I rocked it anyway.

The next step would be for me to pick a contrasting color to pair with the statement piece.

Shirt-NY&Co
The coral/pink shirt was perfect!

The colors are a bit more springy than the season calls for but who follows fashion rules anyway!?

I don't!

I just make my own!!

Next, I gather my accessories. If my clothing pieces are already matchy, matchy then I will go for contrasting accessories. But in this case, since my pieces are contrasting, I went with neutral accessories.

Necklace/Bracelet-Platos | Watch-Target
Belt-NY&Co
And shoes...

Shoes-Thrifted (Nine West)
Can you believe that these cute Nine West babies were thrifted brand NEW for $1!?

 I couldn't!

I snatched them up with the quickness and watched the other ladies boil with thrift envy as I went merrily about my way!!

Since I don't have a cream bag, I added this thrifted beauty to pull off the look. I also styled this bag here and here.

Purse-Thrifted
And that's it. I have found it to work really well for me-especially on those days when I just can't get it together!

What do you think?

What's your outfit formula?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Trendy Tuesday: The Ox's Blood...

Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope that every one's day is off to a great start. I began my morning with a prayer asking for some help with this whole time management thing. I shall save my rants for another post though.

I missed last week's Trendy Tuesday installment due to my participation in the Everybody, Everywear challenge so I was very excited to get back to my regularly scheduled program.

This weeks' trend really intrigues me.

Take a look...
The Ox's Blood...

Dorothy Perkins pocket shirt / Jersey top / Dorothy Perkins ponte knit pencil skirt / Knee length pencil skirt / Oxblood Sporty Knickers / Leather heels / Giuseppe Zanotti high heel / Bowler bag / Alexander McQueen leather clutch handbag / Alexander McQueen enamel jewelry

I will admit that when I first heard the name of this color I cringed and frowned. I was utterly disgusted. Couldn't the fashion forecasters just leave well enough alone and stick to what it really is-BURGUNDY!?! I mean who's really gonna wear OXBLOOD!?

That was then....

Now...I'm totally in love with it. There's something so exquisite and chic about the pieces. They exude class and they would make for a killer combo when paired with mustard, gold, or something as simple as black.

How do you feel about this new trend?
Does the name throw you for a loop?

By the way, per several requests, I have now started listing the links to all of the items shown in the collage. Feel free to visit them and buy. With the exception of a couple of the items, most of them are fairly inexpensive. Enjoy!

Thanks for reading!

Savin' Maven Monday: Accessory Organization-Part I

Happy Monday my loves!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was actually supposed to spend this weekend catching up on blog business but my work week had me highly exhausted so I spent most of my Saturday resting up with my honey. On Sunday, I did a little grocery shopping (I will share my great savings on my FB page) and I attempted to do some 'fall cleaning'.

I'm really making more of an effort to get my things organized because I literally have stuff EVERYWHERE!! It's really irritating to come home after a long day of work and see stuff strolled all over the place so I figured that I needed to get this in check immediately. Besides, I've never been a messy person.

Anyhow, last week I worked on organizing my shoes in this post

This week I wanted to tackle the first portion of my accessories-bracelets!

Currently, they are all piled up in this basket...

Though they are contained in one area, I find myself getting frustrated each time I have to dig through the basket to find what I want.

So I got these random do dads to help me display them...

This first one is a paper towel holder that I purchased from Ross for $5.49..

I'm still unsure exactly what to call these next two contraptions, nevertheless, they work!

This one I stole from my Mom-she wasn't using it so why not!? I love finding random jewels at Mom's house!

And this one I purchased from my local thrift store for a buck...

I thought it would be a good idea to couple all of my 'clasp-esque' bracelets onto the paper towel holder so that I could get them off easily...I could just unclasp the bracelet, if you will, versus having to take all of the bracelets off just to get to the one I want.

Here is the finished look...

Aesthetically speaking, I'm not sure if this looks any better now than it initially did but it's much easier to find what I need.

I'm interested to know how you all store your bracelets?

Clearly all of my do dads are full so I will need more options.

I can't wait to hear from you!
Thanks for reading...

The Story Of The Thrifted Blazer...

It's Hump Day already!

Thank goodness the work week is halfway over!!! I'm already thinking of things to do for the weekend. There's a wine festival going on in my area and that's sounding pretty tasty considering how my week is going thus far!

Speaking of outdoor events, has anyone noticed that it started to get cold really quickly? I mean last week it was in the 90's and this week we're barely making it to 70! WITW!!!

I guess I'm going to have to put away outfits like this until next season.

The blazer just might be able to stay for a while but the shorts and sandals definitely have to go. And I'm sad about it because I feel like my summer was sooo short.

Blazer-Thrifted | Purse-Thrifted
Actually, I'm fine with keeping the blazer in the arsenal for a couple more weeks.

I mean I love the fall weather but there's just something about bare legs that do it for me.

I hate a stocking!

More about the blazer though.

I thrifted it a while ago as part of a skirt suit but I figured that the whole suit would just be too much so I decided to wear it as a separate.

I love that it doesn't button straight down; the buttons are off center, if you will, so as to add some dimension and edge.

The fact that it's cropped allowed me to wear a long shirt to break up the the leopard print and the effect of the dip dyed Bermudas that I DIY'ed in this post.

Shorts-DIY'ed
I felt that it would be perfect to add this thrifted two-toned, carry-on bag in order to bring out the color in the blazer.

Add a subtle green accessory and shoe....

Shoes-Target | Bracelet-NY&Co
 And here you have it...

I love thrifting great, versatile pieces!

What's your favorite thrifted piece?

I can't wait to hear from you.
